BDF Soldiers Honored at Annual Christmas Luncheon

Hundreds of Belize Defence Force soldiers were hosted at an annual Christmas luncheon today, a tradition that continues to highlight appreciation for the service and sacrifice of the men and women in uniform. The event brought together enlisted soldiers, senior officers, and officials from the Ministry of National Defence in a setting designed to promote morale, unity, and gratitude during the holiday season.  A key feature of the luncheon is the reversal of roles, with senior officers and government officials personally serving food and drinks to the soldiers. According to organizers, the symbolic gesture is meant to recognize the commitment of BDF personnel, many of whom remain on duty throughout the Christmas period and often away from their families.  Minister of National Defence Florencio Marín Jr. and Chief Executive Officer Francis Usher both spoke on the purpose behind the luncheon, emphasizing that the initiative is about more than celebration, but about acknowledging service and reinforcing solidarity within the force.

In a separate interview, CEO Francis Usher also spoke about similar Christmas luncheons being hosted for BDF soldiers stationed in other parts of the country, noting that the Ministry is ensuring that troops nationwide are included in the holiday observances.

The Belize Defence Force says the annual Christmas luncheons remain an important tradition, helping to strengthen esprit de corps while offering a moment of appreciation and reflection at the close of the year.
