Belikin La Ruta Maya Belize River Haulover Viewing Fee Confusion

The Belikin La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge Committee is clarifying that it is not responsible for a VIP viewing package currently being promoted by the private resort for the race’s final day in Belize City.  Confusion arose earlier today after a flyer circulated widely on social media advertising a seventy-five-dollar VIP viewing experience at the Grand Resort and Residences Belize for spectators wishing to watch the race finish. Some online users mistakenly assumed that the La Ruta Maya Committee had introduced the higher ticket price.

However, Chairman of the Committee Rene Villanueva Sr. says that claim is incorrect and that the committee has no involvement in the promotion being circulated.  According to Villanueva, the flyer relates to a private hospitality package being independently marketed by the Grand Resort, and not an official initiative of the race organizers. He emphasized that the committee’s official entrance fee for spectators remains unchanged at ten dollars for those over 12 years.

Meanwhile, the Grand Resort and Residences Belize says its promotion is simply an optional premium hospitality experience for spectators who want added comfort while watching the race finish.  Manager of the resort Ken Williams explained that the event is being hosted on the resort’s property and is separate from the official viewing areas organized by the Ruta Maya Committee.

The Ruta Maya Committee is reminding the public that the official riverside viewing area remains accessible through the standard ten-dollar entrance fee, while the Grand Resort package is simply an optional private hospitality experience offered independently of the race organizers.
