Belize Airports Authority Ends Controversial Security Contracts

After enduring some weeks of criticism and scrutiny, the Belize Airports Authority (BAA) announced on Friday, June 13, 2025, that it has cancelled the security contracts with Four Diamond and I-Security companies.  According to a release from the government, they were able to successfully release themselves from the contracts with no financial repercussions.  The release added that the move formally brings an end to all previous contractual obligations between the BAA and both security firms.  Despite the conclusion of these contracts, the BAA confirmed its ongoing commitment to a thorough investigation into the tendering process that led to the award of the airport security contracts, as well as all related matters. The Authority stated it will take any necessary further steps once the investigation is complete.
