Belize Bids Farewell to Taiwan Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu at Diplomatic Reception


Belize officially bid farewell to the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Belize, Her Excellency Lily Li-Wen Hsu, during a reception hosted today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.  Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca and Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry, Amalia Mai, led the farewell as they expressed appreciation for Ambassador Hsu’s service and contributions during her tenure in Belize.  Minister Fonseca highlighted the enduring friendship and cooperation between Belize and Taiwan, noting that the bilateral relationship continued to strengthen throughout Ambassador Hsu’s time in the country. He also extended best wishes to the outgoing diplomat as she moves on to her next assignment.  The farewell reception was attended by several high-level officials, including Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam and Prime Minister John Briceño, underscoring the importance Belize places on its longstanding diplomatic partnership with Taiwan. Belize and Taiwan have maintained strong diplomatic ties for decades, collaborating on numerous development initiatives across sectors such as education, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure.  Officials say Ambassador Hsu’s tenure further reinforced those relations, as both countries continue working closely to advance mutual development and cooperation.
