A Belize City fisherman is out on bail after being charged with grievous harm following a domestic dispute that reportedly left a woman with a missing tooth. Twenty-two-year-old Felipe Sanchez, a resident of Rivero Street, Belize City, appeared this morning before a Magistrate where he was read a single charge of grievous harm. The allegation is that on February 2, during a domestic altercation, Sanchez caused injury to a 33-year-old woman that resulted in the loss of one of her teeth. According to the complainant, a waitress, the incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. when an argument broke out between her and Sanchez. She reported to police that during the dispute Sanchez punched her in the mouth, causing one of her teeth to fall out. Sanchez, who was unrepresented in court, was granted bail in the sum of two thousand dollars with one surety. As part of his bail conditions, Sanchez must not interfere with the virtual complainant, must remain at least one hundred yards away from her, and is required to report to the Raccoon Street Police Station every Wednesday between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Sanchez is scheduled to return to court on May 4, as the matter proceeds.
