Thirty-six-year-old Eugene McFoy has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being denied bail on a burglary charge stemming from what police describe as a domestic-related incident. McFoy, now spending his fourth night behind bars, was arraigned earlier this week in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court. According to court reports, McFoy appeared before Magistrate Mannon Dennison where he was read a single count of burglary. The allegation is that on December 7, he entered the home of Darcel Sanchez in Lockes Alley in Belize City and caused damage to several household items. These include a 32-inch Zekey television, a Mick radio, a Quottor 7P cookware set, and a Black & Decker iron. McFoy, a resident of Lavender Street, pleaded not guilty to the charge and appeared visibly surprised when bail was withheld. Although the prosecutor did not object to bail, the magistrate ruled that given the domestic nature of the allegation, bail would not be granted at this early stage. The court ordered that McFoy be remanded until January 26, the date set for his next appearance, at which point bail will be considered.
