A Belize City man was fined this morning after being caught with a crack pipe, marking his ninth drug-related conviction. 49-year-old, Elroy Bonnell, a laborer, appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Black. He was charged with possession of utensils used for smoking a controlled drug, specifically crack cocaine. Police reported that on Monday, June 9, just before midnight, whilst on patrol on Freetown Road, officers observed Bonnell acting suspiciously. A search revealed a two-and-a-half-inch glass pipe in his left pants pocket, adapted for smoking crack cocaine. Bonnell was detained, taken to the police station, and subsequently charged. He was hit with a $505 fine.
