Belize City Man Granted Bail After Alleged Machete Attack and Property Damage


A Belize City resident is out on bail after being charged with assault and property damage. Forty-year-old Steve Stanley Logan appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Ludlow Black, this morning to face one count of aggravated assault and one count of damage to property. According to police, on Monday, August 11, Logan allegedly committed aggravated assault upon Jewel Al-rifa Chambers with a 24-inch blade machete. He is also accused of causing over three thousand dollars in damage to a green Honda sports utility vehicle belonging to Chambers. The damage included the vehicle’s left door, valued at $2,800, and its front mirror, valued at $280. In court, Logan pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $3,500 plus two sureties of $1,750, with several conditions attached. Logan must not contact Chambers or her family, either directly or through social media, and must stay at least 100 feet away from her. He must also report to the Queen Street Police Station every Friday, starting this Friday, August 15. Logan was able to meet bail this evening and is scheduled to return to court on October 16.
