Belize City Pawn Shop Owner Shot During Apparent Robbery

Belize City Police are investigating a shooting during an apparent robbery at a pawn shop just before midday today.  Preliminary information indicates that an armed man entered the business on Handyside Street and held up its owner. During the incident, the businessman was shot in the leg. He was subsequently transported to the hospital for medical treatment. His condition has not yet been confirmed.  Police are expected to review surveillance footage and conduct interviews as they work to identify the gunman and determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.  No arrest has been reported, and the information remains preliminary.
