Belize City Security Guard Killed in Motorcycle Crash

A Belize City security officer was killed in an early-morning motorcycle accident this morning.  Police say 31-year-old David Enenero Lucas, a resident of Fabers Road, was travelling along Princess Margaret Drive from the West Landivar area.  Upon reaching the roundabout at the intersection of Princess Margaret Drive and Coney Drive, Lucas reportedly lost control of the Lifan motorcycle and crashed into a metal lamp post in the median near the Lion’s Den.  The impact threw Lucas from the motorcycle. He landed across Princess Margaret Drive and suffered severe head injuries. A portion of his helmet was also reportedly broken during the collision.  Personnel from the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital responded and transported Lucas to the emergency room. He was pronounced dead on arrival shortly after five o’clock this morning.  Police processed and documented the scene, while the damaged motorcycle was taken to the Queen Street Police Station for inspection.
