Belize Culture Fund Opens Grant Applications to Support Arts and Heritage Projects

Applications are now open for the Belize Culture Fund, which is offering grants to support community projects aimed at protecting the country’s cultural heritage and strengthening its arts and creative industries. The fund, financed by the Ministry of Culture, will provide nine grants across five categories.  Four grants valued at five thousand dollars each are available for projects focused on safeguarding at-risk living heritage, digital archaeology, digital creative arts and making museums more vibrant and engaging.  Another five grants, valued at two thousand dollars each, will be awarded under the Dynamic Grants category.  The initiative is intended to assist artists, cultural practitioners, community groups and organisations working to document, preserve and promote Belizean culture. Eligible projects may include traditional practices at risk of disappearing, the digital recording of archaeological material, technology-based creative work and efforts to improve public engagement with museums.  The programme involves the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, the National Institute of Culture and History, the Institute for Social and Cultural Research, the Institute of Archaeology, the Institute of Creative Arts and the Museum of Belize and Houses of Culture.  Interested applicants can review the requirements and obtain additional information through the National Institute of Culture and History’s website.
