Belize Deepens Partnership With UNICEF After High-Level Meeting With Foreign Minister

Belize’s partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund is set to deepen following a high-level courtesy call today between Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca and UNICEF’s Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Roberto Ben’s.  The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in Belmopan, focused on reinforcing UNICEF’s ongoing commitment to the wellbeing of Belizean children and advancing collaboration under the agency’s new country programme.  According to the ministry, discussions centered on a renewed strategic approach to the UNICEF–Belize partnership, with both sides emphasizing the importance of continued investment in child protection, education, health, and social development initiatives.  Officials say the visit signals UNICEF’s continued confidence in Belize as the organization works with national partners to strengthen programmes that support the country’s most vulnerable children and families.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade says further engagement with UNICEF is expected as the new country programme moves into its next phase.
