Belize was represented on the international stage yesterday as Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, attended the Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration in London. The event was held at Westminster Abbey in London, bringing together representatives from across the Commonwealth to celebrate shared values of democracy, cooperation, and development among member states. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Minister Fonseca joined fellow foreign ministers from the Caribbean Community for the annual observance, which highlights the unity and cultural diversity of countries within the Commonwealth of Nations. Belize’s delegation also included Marconi Leal, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, and Sheena Pitts, who attended the ceremony as part of the country’s opposition official representation. Photos released from the event show the Belizean delegation alongside other Caribbean Community foreign ministers, as well as Belize’s flag bearer participating in the ceremonial procession. The Commonwealth Day Service is one of the key events on the organization’s annual calendar, drawing leaders, diplomats, and representatives from its fifty-six member countries to reflect on the importance of international cooperation and shared democratic principles.
