Belize Joins Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation as Full Member

Belize has officially joined the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) as its newest Full Member Country.  The country’s full membership is a milestone that was announced during the CTO’s 63rd Council Meeting held earlier this month at Marlborough House in the City of Westminster, London, England. This accession is a step for Belize to advance the country’s digital transformation agenda and strengthening its position within the global digital landscape.  Belize can now directly benefit from CTO’s expertise in developing and implementing strategies for national digital transformation, improving government services and overall digital infrastructure.  Belizean professionals will have access to specialized training and capacity-building initiatives offered by the CTO, enhancing local expertise in telecommunications and related fields.  With the CTO’s focus on cybersecurity, Belize can gain support in developing robust national cybersecurity strategies and frameworks, crucial for protecting its digital infrastructure and citizens online.  As a Full Member, Belize will have an elevated voice in international ICT discussions and fora, allowing it to contribute to and benefit from global best practices and policy developments.  The CTO’s mission is to bridge the digital divide and promote socio-economic development through ICTs, offering Belize access to valuable programs, research, and technical support.
