Belize Judiciary Expands AI Training to Modernize Court System

The Senior Courts of Belize are continuing efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into the administration of justice, with judicial officers and stakeholders taking part in a practical AI training session today. The hands-on workshop was hosted by Chief Justice Louise Esther Blenman, who also serves as President of the Judicial Education Institute of the Senior Courts of Belize. It follows an earlier AI training session organized by the Institute and forms part of the Judiciary’s push to embrace new technologies while promoting their responsible use within the justice system.  The training was facilitated by Mark Bissett of LexisNexis, who also presented at the previous session, along with Scott Wiles.  According to the Office of Chief Justice, the initiative recognizes the growing importance of artificial intelligence in the administration of justice and is aimed at providing practical exposure to the technology and its potential applications.  The three-hour session was held in the Main Courtroom at the New Court Building on Treasury Lane in Belize City.

The Judiciary says the training forms part of its ongoing commitment to innovation and to strengthening the effective administration of justice through the responsible use of technology.
