Belize Judiciary to Host AI Training Workshop for Legal Professionals

The Judicial Education Institute of the Senior Courts of Belize is set to host a high-level training workshop focused on the use of artificial intelligence within the legal system, as part of ongoing efforts to modernize the country’s judiciary.  In a press release issued, Chief Justice Louise Esther Blenman announced that the three-day training will run from April 21 to 23, at the New Court Building in Belize City.  The initiative forms part of the judiciary’s broader transformation agenda and strategic plan to strengthen institutional capacity. The workshop is expected to bring together a wide cross-section of the legal community, including judges, magistrates, registrars, judicial assistants, attorneys-at-law from both the public and private bar, as well as administrative personnel.  According to the release, the training is designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills to responsibly integrate artificial intelligence into their daily functions. It will also explore how emerging technologies can improve efficiency within the courts, while maintaining strict adherence to ethical standards and safeguarding judicial integrity.  Facilitating the sessions will be United Kingdom-based presenter Mark Bissett, who brings extensive international experience in AI-focused legal training. Organizers note that Bissett is offering his expertise voluntarily and is expected to deliver practical insights into both the opportunities and limitations of artificial intelligence in the legal field.
