Belize Maps Out Long-Term Plan to Strengthen National Electricity Supply

The Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy and Logistics met with Belize Electricity Limited and other key energy sector stakeholders today to map out the future of the country’s electricity supply.  The Electricity Strategic Planning Meeting, held in Belize City, focused on the current state of the sector and Belize’s ability to meet growing energy demands in the years ahead. Discussions included an assessment of existing generation capacity, short- and long-term supply needs, and measures that can be taken to strengthen the national electricity system.  The meeting also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to explore collaborative solutions aimed at improving energy security and ensuring the country is better positioned to respond to future demand.  The Ministry says continued coordination and strategic planning will be critical to building a more reliable, resilient and sustainable electricity supply for consumers across Belize.
