Belize People’s Front Condemns Actions Against Venezuela, Warns of Regional Fallout

The Belize People’s Front has issued a strongly worded statement condemning what it describes as military and political aggression against Venezuela, warning that any escalation of conflict in the Caribbean or Latin America threatens regional peace, stability, and economic security.  In a press release issued from San Ignacio, the organization denounced any airstrikes, acts of war, or attempts to detain or kidnap Venezuela’s democratically elected President, Nicolás Maduro, arguing that such actions violate international norms and endanger the long-standing designation of the region as a Zone of Peace..The Belize People’s Front, led by Nancy Marin Juan, cautioned that conflict involving Venezuela would not be an isolated incident, but one with far-reaching consequences for Caribbean and Latin American states, including Belize. According to the group, war in the region could lead to rising fuel and food prices, shortages of basic goods, increased insecurity, and severe disruptions to tourism and trade—key pillars of many regional economies.  Addressing public discourse in Belize, the organization noted that while some individuals may support actions against President Maduro based on political or religious views, Belize remains part of the Caribbean and Latin American region, not the United States. The group emphasized that any conflict affecting Venezuela would inevitably impact neighboring countries through economic and social fallout.  The Belize People’s Front also aligned itself with the Foro de São Paulo and other international peace movements in condemning what it characterized as illegal and irresponsible actions by the United States of America against the region.  Reaffirming its position, the organization declared its solidarity with Venezuela and President Maduro, calling for respect for sovereignty, self-determination, and non-intervention, and reiterated its appeal for the Caribbean and Latin America to remain a Zone of Peace.//////
