Belize Police Athletes Seek Public Support Ahead of World Police Games

Belizean police athletes are preparing to represent the country at the World Police Games, and the department is asking the public to help get them there. The games, organised by the International Police Sports Union, are scheduled for October 26 through to 30 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. To support the athletes, the department had a pledge relay today, inviting individuals, businesses and organisations to contribute based on the distance their chosen runner completes. For example, a pledge of five dollars per mile would amount to twenty-five dollars if the runner covers five miles. A ten-dollar pledge over that same distance would bring in fifty dollars.  The department says every contribution will help support the team’s participation. It is encouraging Belizeans to back the officers as they prepare to carry the national flag onto the international sporting stage.
