Belize Police Department Eastern Region Honors 14 Officers for Removing Illegal Firearms


The Belize Police Department’s Eastern Region today recognized fourteen police officers for outstanding performance in removing illegal firearms from the streets.  The Special Awards Session highlighted what police described as coordinated, intelligence-driven policing efforts across multiple units within the Eastern Division.  According to the Department, the officers were singled out for their vigilance, rapid response, and proactive strategies that directly contributed to a number of successful firearm arrests in the region. Officials say the recognitions reflect the Department’s continued focus on crime reduction and public safety.  Those honoured came from a cross-section of specialized and operational units, underscoring what police leadership described as the growing importance of inter-unit collaboration in modern law enforcement.  Among the awardees were members of the Criminal Investigations Branch, GI3, the Anti-Narcotics Unit, the Caye Caulker GBVRIU, Precinct One Support Team, and the Eastern Division Motorcycle Team, known as the Eagles.  The officers recognized are Detective Constables Albert Longsworth, Winford Broaster, Cleon Chacon; Detective Corporals Christian Young and Crystal Noralez; as well as Constables Kersha Lacayo, Sherief Belisle, Emerson Domínguez, Andrew Ortiz, Joshua Guzman, Malachi Williams, Keemar Wagner and José Mejía.  In a statement, the Police Department commended the officers for their professionalism and dedication, noting that their work continues to play a critical role in keeping communities safe.
