Belize Police Department Promotes 311 Officers During Police Week Ceremony

As part of this year’s Police Week celebrations, the Belize Police Department has recognized hundreds of officers for their service and commitment to law enforcement across the country.  According to figures released by the department, a total of 311 police officers has been promoted, representing approximately 13 percent of the organization’s personnel. The promotions mark career advancement opportunities for officers serving in various capacities and reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen the department’s operational capabilities.  In addition to the promotions, 326 officers were recognized for long service and outstanding performance. The awards included Long Service Medals, First and Second Clasps, as well as Meritorious and Distinguished Service recognitions.  The awards and promotions were formally acknowledged during the department’s annual Medal, Awards and Promotion Ceremony, held as part of Police Week activities. The event highlighted the contributions of officers who serve in communities across Belize throughout the year.  Police officers are routinely tasked with responding to reports of violence and crime, conducting investigations, carrying out enforcement operations, supporting prosecutions, and engaging with residents through community policing initiatives. The ceremony is part of a broader week of activities under Police Week 2026 under the theme, “Honouring Our Call, Strengthening Our Community.”
