Belize Police Officer Detained After Allegedly Running Red Light

A Belize Police Department officer is facing legal trouble after he was reportedly arrested in Belize City for allegedly running a red light.  Information reaching Love News is that Lewis Pascasio was detained following the latest traffic-related incident after allegedly disobeying a traffic signal within Belize City limits. Today, ASP Stacy Smith confirmed that the incident is under investigation and provided preliminary details regarding the officer’s detention.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “As it relates to the inquiry pertaining to Mr. Pascascio I spoke with one of the OCs in Eastern Division and what he just advised me just a short while ago is that yes in fact an incident occurred and an investigation was triggered, that investigation has resulted in charges being prepared for Mr.Pascascio in relation to aggravated assault and wounding as a consequence of a report made by a police officer. I believe the matter was captured on camera because it happened in front of the gas station. That has been viewed and that is what guided police’s action in terms of the charges that have been prepared.”

Pascasio, a Special Patrol Officer was previously charged in connection with the alleged aggravated assault of Belizean Olympian Shaun Gill in 2024.  In that earlier incident, Pascasio was accused of allegedly confronting Gill on Orange Street in Belize City and reportedly pulling a firearm on him during the altercation. That matter remains before the court.
