Belize has reaffirmed its support for the people of Venezuela following the recent earthquakes that impacted the South American nation. The commitment was underscored today during a courtesy meeting between Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Oscar Arnold, and Venezuela’s Ambassador to Belize and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, His Excellency Gerardo Argote. The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss ways to further strengthen the longstanding relationship between Belize and Venezuela. Areas of cooperation highlighted included culture, technology, and capacity building, as both countries continue to explore avenues for deeper bilateral engagement.  During the discussions, CEO Arnold extended Belize’s heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Venezuela for the lives lost as a result of the recent earthquakes. He also reaffirmed Belize’s commitment to supporting ongoing recovery efforts, including assistance aimed at restoring Venezuela’s electricity infrastructure.  Ambassador Gerardo Argote expressed appreciation to the Government and people of Belize for the assistance provided in the wake of the disaster.
