Belize’s Hero, the Right Honourable Philip Stanley Wilberforce Goldson is remembered especially today as he would have been celebrating his 102nd birthday. Goldson is revered in many corners for his immense contributions dedicated to justice, self-determination, and good governance. The centrepiece of today’s remembrance was a special commemoration event at the historic Goldson House in Belmopan. In a fitting tribute to his legacy of education and public service, the Goldson House is opening its doors to offer free tours throughout the day. Students from various schools, alongside members of the public, are invited to explore the exhibits and learn more about the life and work of this extraordinary leader. Belmopan Correspondent LJay Wade was there and has the story.
Belize’s archives show that from his early days as a journalist and activist to his distinguished career as a legislator and minister, Goldson’s commitment to the Belizean people was steadfast. Goldson is one of two Belizean heroes with the other being the Right Honorable George Cadle Price
