Belize Strengthens Regional Ties at COSEFIN Finance Meeting in Guatemala

Belize was represented at the 56th Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Finance of Central America, Panama, and the Dominican Republic, also known as COSEFIN. Leading the Belizean delegation was the Honorable Christopher Coye, Minister of State for Finance. He was joined by several key officials, including Carlos Pol, CEO of the Ministry of Economic Transformation; Ambassador Jose Alpuche; and Cinnamon Bottaro, Belize’s representative to the Inter-American Development Bank. During the gathering, Belize reiterated its dedication to working with its neighbors on important issues like fiscal policy, trade, and sustainable development. The delegation also held a notable bilateral meeting with Guatemala’s Minister of Public Finance, Jonathan Menkos. The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in critical sectors such as security, tourism, energy, and trade. Belize’s official incorporation into COSEFIN was approved late last year, and the country participated in its first virtual meeting in January. The meeting was held on July 31 in Antigua, Guatemala.
