Belize U-16 Girls Fall 12–0 to El Salvador in UNCAF Tournament

It was a tough afternoon for Belize’s U-16 Girls National Team in Managua, Nicaragua, where the young Jaguars suffered a heavy twelve – nil defeat to El Salvador in their final group-stage match of the UNCAF FIFA Forward U-16 Girls Tournament. The game kicked off at 4:30 p.m. at the Estadio Miguel “Chocorrón” Buitrago Stadium, marking Belize’s third outing in what has been a challenging but character-building regional competition.  Belize entered today’s match already carrying the weight of two difficult results, a seven – nil loss to host country Nicaragua on Friday and a much stronger performance on Sunday against Guatemala, where the team narrowly fell two–one. That match produced a standout moment for Belize when rising talent Christel Tzul scored the country’s first and only goal of the tournament so far, briefly equalizing the match and showcasing the determination this young squad continues to display despite the odds.  While today’s defeat is a hard one to digest, the Belize U-16 girls remain resilient. Coaches and supporters alike have noted the team’s perseverance, growth, and unity throughout the competition, emphasizing that this tournament serves as an important step in their development on the international stage.  Belize now looks ahead to their final assignment, a placement match against Honduras to determine seventh place.
