Belizeans Gather for National Day of Prayer in Benque Viejo

Belizeans came together in prayer on September 13 as the National Day of Prayer was observed at the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Benque Viejo del Carmen, Cayo District.  Parishioners, community members and national leaders gathered for the solemn service, offering prayers for peace, unity, guidance and continued blessings upon Belize during the September celebrations.  The principal celebrant, Father Pech, opened his sermon by expressing gratitude for Belize. He reflected on the first reading from Saint Paul, which called on the faithful to pray for leaders and all those in authority. Father Pech underscored the importance of spiritual guidance in leadership and the shared responsibility to work for a peaceful and united nation.

The Prayers of the Faithful were delivered by Minister of Human Development, Family Support and Gender Affairs Thea Garcia-Ramirez and Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Defence and Border Security, Major Retired Francis Usher.  Governor-General Her Excellency Dame Froyla Tzalam and Prime Minister John Briceño were also among those joining the congregation in collective prayer for Belize and its people.  Addresses were delivered by Benque Viejo Mayor Jorge Rosales and Prime Minister Briceño.
