A Belmont man, for whom a State of Emergency (SoE) Preventive Detention Order (PDO) was issued on Monday, has been arrested by police.
The 26-year-old was held on Tuesday by officers of the Port-of-Spain Gang and Intelligence Unit (POSGIU).
The PDO was signed on August 11 by Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander. Following his arrest, the detainee was taken to a facility in the Northern Division.
The operation was supervised by Snr Supt Thom, Supt Baird, and ASP Mongroo, along with a team of officers from the POSGIU.
And in other SoE operations, one man was arrested by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force and other law enforcement agents in Pasea, Tunapuna, after he was found with an AR-15 rifle loaded with a magazine and 34 rounds of ammunition.
The arrest took place between 3 am and 8 am yesterday. The operation was supervised by Supt Pariman, ASP Ramharack, Insp Phillip and Sgt Katerson.
