A 26-year-old Belmont man, the subject of a Preventive Detention Order (PDO) issued on Monday, has been arrested by officers of the Port of Spain Gang and Intelligence Unit (POSGIU).
The PDO, signed on August 11 by Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander, was executed on August 12. The man was taken into custody on Tuesday and transported to a facility in the Northern Division.
The operation was led by Senior Superintendent Thom, Superintendent Baird, and Assistant Superintendent Mongroo, with support from a team of POSGIU officers.
In a separate State of Emergency (SoE) exercise, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force, working alongside other law enforcement personnel, arrested a man in Pasea after he was found in possession of an AR-15 rifle loaded with a magazine and 34 rounds of ammunition.
That operation, conducted between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. yesterday, was supervised by Superintendent Pariman, Assistant Superintendent Ramharack, Inspector Phillip, and Sergeant Katerson.
