Belmopan Crash Claims Life of Mother of Five

A road traffic incident in Belmopan has taken the life of a 34-year-old woman. Early this morning, at around 2:30, a single-vehicle incident near the Belmopan Comprehensive High School resulted in the death of Marilyn Roches, a mother of five who was eagerly awaiting the birth of her first grandchild. She had been riding as a passenger on a motorcycle when the driver reportedly lost control. Our Belmopan correspondent, Ljay Wade, followed the story and file the following report.

Police Commissioner Dr Anthony Rosado, in a special press brief this afternoon, gave some insight into the investigation of this fatal incident including the possible involvement of alcohol.

Dr. Richard Rosado, Commissioner of Police: “Sometime this morning a fatal motorcycle accident occurred on the South Ring Road where one Takuzo Kaseki, forgive me if I pronounce that wrong, along with Marlene Roches were on the motorcycle and when approaching in front of Belmopan Comprehensive School the driver of the motorcycle, Kaseki, lost control of the motorcycle resulting in the fatal injuries of Miss Roches. Specimen was taken and the matter is under investigation. I do believe that he was also issued with a notice of intended prosecution pending the outcome of the investigation. I know that specimen was taken but there is no evidential material until we get the results from the forensic lab.”

Upon arrival at the accident scene, officers discovered the motionless body of Roches.  Her body was found across a drain with severe head injuries and body scrapes while a blue motorcycle with a broken rear light and damaged front fender, was found parked nearby on the high school’s driveway.  33-year-old Takudzwa Jeremiah Kaseke, a resident of Blue Creek Street has since been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
