Benque Viejo Town Council Grants Grace Period for Taxi License Renewals

The Benque Viejo Town Council has announced a grace period for taxi operators to complete the payment and renewal of their annual trade licenses.  In an official notice issued from the Office of Jorge Rosales, taxi operators, owners, and associations operating within the town are being given until February 6, to regularize their trade licenses as required under the Trade Licensing Act of Belize.  The Town Council reminded operators that operating a taxi service constitutes a trade or business under the law, and that it is an offence to operate without a valid trade license. Failure to comply by the stated deadline may result in the cessation of business operations and legal action against non-compliant operators.  Mayor Rosales, who also serves as Chair of the Town’s Trade Board, encouraged all taxi associations and operators to take advantage of the grace period and visit the Benque Viejo Town Council offices from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to complete the necessary applications and payments.  The Council is calling for full cooperation from taxi operators as it works to ensure compliance with the law and the smooth, orderly operation of taxi services in Benque Viejo del Carmen, Cayo District.
