In celebration of Jamaica’s Independence Day on August 6, Reggae icon Beres Hammond, emerging artiste MediSun and Grammy-nominated roots-reggae artiste Jesse Royal today released the video for their song “Born in Jamaica.”

The video was shot on location in Jamaica.

The music video is described as truly a love letter to Jamaica: the boat scene from the video was filmed in Port Royal, a recently named UNESCO World Heritage Site, and The Jamaican Tourist Board, recognizing the video’s cultural significance, proudly collaborated on the project.

Jesse Royal says  the song and video are “a great reminder of Jamaica’s impact on the world to others but also a reminder to Jamaicans that we provide a vibe that can’t be denied!” He added “from music to food to fashion to culture Jamaica is a little dot on the map with an incredibly huge impact – this song is the Second National Anthem!”

Destination Marketing Manager at the Jamaica Tourist Board, Kris DaCostasaid the JTB is “ proud to support Born In Jamaica as a powerful celebration of our culture, music, and people.”

The song was released some 5 months ago.
