Veteran football coach and technical director of Harbour View football club, Ludlow Bernard, believes Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz still have a decent shot at qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their recent poor performance at the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament.

The team failed to get out of the group stage for the first time since 2019 after losing to Guatemala and Panama to finish third in the group, just ahead of Gudeloupe.

The World Cup qualifying campaign resumes in September with Jamaica drawn in Group B alongside Curacao, Trinidad and Tobago and Bermuda

They open the final round on September 10 away to Trinidad and Tobago.

Of the three Bernard suggested that Curacao could be tricky.

Bernard believes that head coach Steve McLaren should take the lion’s share of the blame for the team’s struggles.
