Best Weekend Ever Returns to Jamaica With Seven Events in Five Days

MIAMI, Florida — Anticipation is building for the return of Best Weekend Ever, Jamaica’s premier Independence weekend party series, and according to public relations representative Dania Beckford, organizers have taken major steps to ensure an even smoother experience for patrons this year.

Speaking exclusively with World Music Views at the Miami launch event held at Rise and Toast on May 17, Beckford outlined what attendees can expect when Best Weekend Ever returns to Jamaica from August 6-10.

“Last year was crazy, waves, wonderful people,” Beckford said. “This year we’re taking it even higher.”

One of the biggest concerns from previous years was traffic congestion, but Beckford assured partygoers that organizers have addressed the issue.

“The traffic is going to be contained because we have put a lot of measures in place, including the fact that we’re working with the police with our brand new traffic plan,” she explained. “So it’s going to be contained.”

This year’s staging also marks a significant milestone for the brand.

“For the very first time in the five years we’re having Best Weekend Ever, we are going to be starting with the party Rise and Toast,” Beckford revealed.

The launch in Miami served as a preview of the festivities to come, with Rise and Toast officially becoming the first event of the 2025 Independence weekend lineup.

The celebrations kick off on August 6, Jamaica’s Independence Day, before transitioning into the nighttime event Allure.

From there, the action continues on Friday with one of the festival’s signature experiences: “I Love Soca.”

“It’s a big, bad cooler event,” she said enthusiastically.

Fans of soca and carnival culture will appreciate the return of the cooler-party concept, where patrons can bring their own beverages.

“Bring your own cooler, you drink what you want,” Beckford explained, adding that drinks will also be available for purchase on-site.

The next morning, partygoers are invited to continue the celebration at Daybreak.

“The next morning we wake up and we’re at Daybreak,” Beckford laughed. “Party till night, sleep for four hours, wake up, Daybreak, party again.”

This year’s Daybreak event will feature a Western-inspired theme.

“All the ladies in their hats and boots, that’s what we’re looking for,” she said.

As the weekend progresses, patrons will transition into one of Best Weekend Ever’s most popular upscale experiences, Milk and Honey.

While the event traditionally features a themed dress code, Beckford noted a seasonal change.

“For summer we do pink and white. In December we do black and white; in summer we do pink and white.”

And yes, the men are expected to participate too.

“Yeah man, of course,” she laughed.

In total, Best Weekend Ever will feature an ambitious schedule.

“We have seven events in five days,” Beckford said.

The festivities culminate with Late Checkout, an event inspired by the feeling many visitors experience when they don’t want the weekend to end.

“Late Checkout is for the people who call the hotel front desk and be like, ‘Can we get some more time? Can we get some more time please?'”

The event series continues to enjoy strong support from corporate partners and tourism stakeholders.

“Don Julio for sure from the Red Stripe group,” Beckford said when asked about sponsors. “We’re very, very proud to have them for five years.”

She also highlighted the backing of the Jamaica Tourist Board.

“We’re endorsed by the Jamaica Tourist Board,” she noted.

With the launch taking place in South Florida, Beckford also acknowledged the deep connection between Miami and Jamaica.

“I feel like it crosses over,” she said when asked about the similarities between Miami and Kingston. “It’s the people in the dance floor. They want to come home, they want to have some fun. It just gets a little vibe here when they get to Jamaica.”

Best Weekend Ever runs August 6-10 in Jamaica, featuring seven events across five days of Independence celebrations.
