LONDON, England – Barbadians Jacob Bethell and Jofra Archer are in line to feature for England in their upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against India.
Both players were named in a 16-member squad that will take on the visitors in a three-match series from July 14-19.
The 22-year-old Bethell is set to open the batting in a move that could see him being elevated in the other two formats.
According to a report from Cricinfo, Bethell is set to become Ben Duckett’s fifth opening partner since 2025, a promotion from his recent role at No 4.
Bethell has previously opened the batting in 50-over cricket for both England Under-19s and England Lions, and could potentially shuffle up from his role at No 3 in Test cricket in the future.
Meanwhile, Archer will lead England’s bowling attack in his return to ODI cricket after he was rested for January’s series win in Sri Lanka.
England ODI squad: Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook (captain), Jos Buttler, James Coles, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Josh Tongue.
