MELBOURNE, Australia (CMC):
Barbadian Jacob Bethell’s contributions with bat and ball were not enough to prevent his Melbourne Renegades from going down by five wickets to the Adelaide Strikers when the Big Bash League continued here on Thursday.
Bethell scored a run-a-ball 21 in the Renegades’ total of 142 for nine from their 20 overs after they were sent in to bat by Strikers at Docklands Stadium.
His knock was bettered only by opener Josh Brown who scored 66 from 41 balls with six sixes and five fours.
Henry Thornton was the main destroyer with 3-22 from his four overs, while Jaime Overton and Lloyd Pope both took two wickets.
Strikers were then led to victory by Chris Lynn, who belted 88 from 51 balls, inclusive of four sixes and 10 boundaries, romping to 143 for five from 17.1 overs.
Bethell took 1-20 from three overs with his left-arm spin.
