Bishop Philip Wright Elected Archbishop in Historic Moment for Belize

Belize is celebrating a historic spiritual milestone as The Very Reverend Philip S. Wright, Bishop of Belize, has been elected the next Archbishop, Primate, and Metropolitan of the Church in the Province of the West Indies (CPWI), an achievement that brings national pride and elevates the Anglican community across the Caribbean.  A press conference is scheduled in this regard at Best Western tomorrow morning.  Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religious Affairs says Archbishop-elect Wright’s lifelong dedication to faith, education, and community service embodies the values that continue to guide the region toward compassion, unity, and social upliftment. His leadership, they note, represents a beacon of hope at a time when Caribbean communities seek renewed purpose and deeper collaboration.  The Government of Belize, through the Ministry, reaffirmed its commitment to working hand in hand with the Church on areas such as moral renewal, interfaith dialogue, and social transformation, emphasizing that the partnership between church and state is vital to strengthening the spiritual and civic fabric of the nation.  Prime Minister John Briceño also extended his warmest congratulations to Archbishop-elect Wright, describing him as a respected and influential figure whose steady leadership has fostered meaningful engagement between the Church and the State, especially on issues of education, social development, and justice.  The Prime Minister, the Government of Belize, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs offered blessings to Archbishop-elect Wright, his family, and the Anglican Diocese of Belize as he prepares to assume one of the highest leadership roles in the regional Anglican Church.  Wright’s elevation is being hailed as a proud moment not only for Belize, but for the entire CPWI community across the Caribbean.
