Blue Creek Farmer Killed in Tragic Tractor Accident

A tragic farming accident in Blue Creek Village, Orange Walk District, has claimed the life of 57-year-old farmer Peter Dyck. The incident occurred this morning when Dyck was fatally injured while attempting to board a moving Massey Ferguson tractor driven by his 15-year-old stepson.  Reports indicate that Dyck missed his step and fell to the ground, where he was run over by the tractor’s left rear wheel and partially pulled under an attached bush hog. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.  Police have processed the scene, and a Medico-Legal Investigation (MUI) has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.  Our newsroom reached out to the Mayor of the Mennonite Community, John Krahn, for a comment, but he declined to speak on the matter.  It is understood that the victim, Peter Dyck, was a respected member of the Blue Creek community and a former board member of Caribbean Chicken, one of the village’s leading agribusiness companies.
