The body of Tara Lochansingh was found Saturday morning in Matura River.
The Hunters Search and Rescue Team posted news of the discovery on its Facebook page, saying the Coast Guard divers had retrieved the body.
A massive search effort was underway yesterday to find a 48-year-old woman who was “swept away” in a river.
Police officers, as well as members of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team, were searching for Tara Lochansingh in the Matura River up to late yesterday evening.
Police said around 4:30 pm on Friday, Lochansingh was with some 10 to 15 family members celebrating the Emancipation Day holiday at the river, when she and a six-year-old relative got into difficulties.
The six-year-old girl was rescued.
However, Lochansingh was swept away in the swollen river following heavy rainfall.
