Bowen & Bowen Employee Remanded on Unlicensed Firearm Charges

A 34-year-old employee of Bowen & Bowen is spending his first night on remand after being charged in connection with the alleged possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.  Linsford Winston Lord, a Belize City resident, appeared unrepresented today before the Chief Magistrate where he was formally charged with kept unlicensed firearm, kept unlicensed ammunition, and possession of a firearm with its serial number removed. The charges stem from an incident that occurred last night.  According to police, officers attached to the Gang Intelligence Investigation Unit were conducting mobile patrols in Belize City just before seven o’clock when they observed several men acting suspiciously in the area of Pelican and Curassow Streets. Police say they noticed a grey SUV parked nearby and observed the driver exiting the vehicle while holding his waistband.  Officers reportedly identified themselves and moved to approach the man, who allegedly attempted to walk toward an abandoned lot. Police further allege that as officers closed in, the man removed an object from his waistband and threw it into a nearby yard. Officers say they observed what appeared to be the upper portion of a firearm during the act.  The man was detained and later identified as Lord. Police then searched the area and reportedly found a 9mm pistol on a doghouse in the yard of a residence on Iguana Street. The firearm was allegedly loaded with a magazine containing eight live rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition, and the serial number removed. The impact from the firearm thrown reportedly caused visible damage to its upper receiver.  Police further allege that Lord admitted he did not possess a firearm license. He was subsequently arrested and charged.  In court, Lord pleaded not guilty to all three offenses. Due to the nature of the charges, bail was denied, and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until March 30, 2026.
