Top Jamaican female sprinter Brianna Lyston has made the decision to forego her remaining College eligibility at Louisiana State University to become a professional.

Lyston who’ll be 21 in 18 days made her intentions known in a letter to LSU head coach Dennis Shaver three days ago.

Lyston says the decision was a difficult one, but that after serious consideration and much reflection she had a chat with her family before deciding to that her time as a Collegiate athlete had arrived.

The former St. Jago High School and Hydel standout says she has come to accept that she will no longer be able to compete at the level required without being 100 percent mentally and physically.

Lyston has not ran outdoors this season after picking up an injury during her indoor campaign.

Last year she ran a personal best and school record 7.03 seconds to win the NCAA 60m indoor title.

Lyston joined LSU in 2022 after winning the 200m title at the World Under-20 championships in Cali, Colombia.
