British Student Alleges Rape in Caye Caulker Hotel Room

A 22-year-old British student, currently residing in Caye Caulker village, was reportedly raped in a hotel room in the early hours of Tuesday, June 10.  Our newsroom confirmed that authorities on the island have launched an investigation into the serious allegation.  According to a police report, the young woman visited the Caye Caulker Police Station on Tuesday afternoon, indicating that on Monday night, she had been out socializing and drinking with friends at a village nightclub.  At around two o’clock in the morning, she returned to her hotel room and went to bed.  Whilst sleeping, she noted that an unknown male allegedly entered her room and raped her.  A subsequent medical examination was conducted, which confirmed that the woman had been recently carnally known.
