Burglars Ransack Carmelita Home, Steal Electronics Worth $1,200 Dollars

Orange Walk Police are investigating a burglary reported in Carmelita Village after residents returned home to find their house ransacked and several electronic items stolen.  Officers responded to a fenced green concrete residence on Spanish Town Street, where they spoke with 20-year-old Onisella Peralda, a tour guide, and her common-law partner 26-year-old Lisandro Torres, an airline agent.  Peralda told police she left home around 4:30 a.m., while Torres departed about 5:10 a.m. for work in Belize City. When the couple returned shortly before 7:00 p.m., they discovered the interior of the house in disarray and several belongings missing.  Further checks revealed that burglars gained entry by cutting the screen of a window and removing two lower louvres.  Among the stolen items were an HP laptop valued at eight hundred dollars, a smart projector valued at one hundred and fifty dollars, two speakers valued at one hundred and fifty dollars, and two power banks valued at one hundred dollars, totaling approximately twelve hundred dollars.
