Police are investigating a burglary reported at Sadie Vernon Government School in Belize City. Forty-year-old Vice Principal Samson Jacobs reported to the Crimes Investigation Branch shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Friday that his office had been broken into sometime between the evening of yesterday and this morning. According to the report, the cream and orange board-structure office, measuring approximately 13 by 24 feet, was entered and several items were stolen. These include a Proline metal safe containing two new blank Belize Bank cheque books, two unsigned Belize Bank cheques, one in the name of Rosados Construction Supplies valued at one hundred twenty-seven dollars and seventy-six cents, and another in the name of G. Gongora and Sons Limited valued at one hundred eighty dollars, as well as six hundred seventy-five dollars in petty cash. The total loss is estimated at nine hundred eighty-two dollars and seventy-six cents. Scene of Crime personnel processed the area and determined that entry was gained by damaging the board louvers in the bathroom on the western side of the office. Partial fingerprints were reportedly lifted from the bathroom door knob. Police canvassed the area and are reviewing surveillance cameras.
