The flare-up of gang violence in Spanish Town and its environs brought economic activity to a standstill on Thursday.
The present flare-up stems from the police killing of reputed leader of the notorious One Order Gang, Othneil Lobban, also known as ‘Tick Man.’

Shops and stalls remained closed, vending zones were deserted, and residents hurried through the town centre to avoid lingering in the tense atmosphere.
Empty taxis lined the streets, with operators lamenting the significant drop in commuters.
Many described the situation as dire.
One cook shop owner expressed her frustration, saying she had only made five sales since opening business.
A female vendor, who’s identified herself as a single mother, said she had no choice but to brave the uncertainty and sell her goods to provide for her children.
Despite their fears, some vendors told our news team they refuse to cower, as their livelihoods depend on their earnings.
President of the St. Catherine Chamber of Commerce, Dennis Robotham, noted the devastating impact the violence has had on the local business community.
As the tension lingers, citizens who work and traverse the Spanish Town area remain on edge, uncertain about what the days will bring.
