Butane Prices Drop for a Second Time in One Week

Consumers are paying slightly less for liquefied petroleum gas, or butane gas, following another reduction in the controlled price.  This is the second reduction in just one week.  The Supplies Control Unit says the new prices took effect today, August 28. LPG is now being sold in urban areas at one dollar and thirty-five cents per pound, or five dollars and ninety-two cents per gallon. In rural areas, the controlled price is one dollar and thirty-eight cents per pound, or six dollars and two cents per gallon. The wholesale price is four dollars and thirty-two cents per gallon across all six districts.

The latest adjustment represents a nine-cent reduction per gallon and is mainly due to a decrease in the acquisition cost of the current shipment. The prices apply to imported LPG containing the required seventy-thirty mixture of propane and butane.
