BZR WKND Jamaica’s marquee concert, which was to feature Cardi B as its headline act, has been postponed from October 18 to December 20.
In a statement posted on Tuesday, the organisers cited circumstances beyond their control and assured patrons that the event would go ahead. They also extended condolences to Cardi B and her family following the recent death of her grandfather.
They said the additional time would be used to develop a bigger production, declaring, “One thing is certain: We will not let you down. A show will happen!”
Previously purchased tickets will remain valid for December 20. Patrons seeking refunds may do so via email.
The organisers said a press conference would be held later this week to provide further details.
Today's BZR WKND announcement follows a Billboard report last Thursday that the Grammy-winning rapper would no longer be performing at the concert, which was scheduled for the National Stadium in St Andrew.
Cardi B apologised to Jamaican fans in a video posted online, saying she had tried her best to make the appearance happen but that unresolved issues prevented her from proceeding. She also dismissed suggestions that poor ticket sales were behind her withdrawal.
