Dionne Ligoure is stepping down from her position as Corporate Communications Executive Manager at Caribbean Airlines. Her last day on the job will be August 31. Guardian Media understands she tendered her resignation in July, and it is not linked to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s recent calls for CAL management to turn the company around.
Ligoure’s departure is the latest in a series of leadership changes at the airline, which recently saw the appointment of a new Board of Directors with Reyna Kowlessar replacing Ronnie Mohammed as CAL Chairman. Ligoure’s resignation also comes amid intense public scrutiny on the airline, as the Prime Minister has voiced concerns over CAL’s failure to submit audited financial statements for nearly a decade and what she says is the operation of unprofitable routes.
While the airline has seen several junior staff resign over the last few months, this is the first high-level departure since Roger Berkeley’s resignation as Vice President of Human Resources in 2024. At the time, CAL CEO Garvin Medera stated that Berkeley was leaving to “engage in new opportunities elsewhere.”
Like Berkeley, Ligoure has been with Caribbean Airlines for an extended period. She joined the company in 2015, replacing Clint Williams, who left the year before. According to a press release from CAL at the time, Ligoure was tasked with overseeing Caribbean Airlines’ media and PR, crisis communications, employee communications, and corporate social responsibility.
Guardian Media understands Ligoure will embark on a new role at a local conglomerate. She could not be reached for comment.
