Calabar High’s Shaquane Gordon maintained his impressive 2025 form with another top-notch performance at last Saturday’s Camperdown Classics at the National Stadium.
Gordon, who recently won the 55m hurdles at the New York International Showcase Indoor meet and the 110m hurdles at the Youngster Goldsmith Classics, clocked a personal best of 10.34 seconds to win the Class One 100m. Tremaine Todd of St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) was second in 10.50, and Ainsley McGregor of Wolmer’s Boys, who won his heat in 10.51, was third overall.
Calabar also dominated the Class Two 100m as Byron Walker clocked 10.71 to beat his teammate, Ched Brown (10.82), with Radeeki Walters of STETHS grabbing third in a personal best 10.88.
Rajuan Romelly of St Jago High captured the Class Three 100 metres in 11.23. Joshua Dawkins of Calabar was second in 11.25, with third going to Darrell Douglas of Jamaica College in 11.31.
Calabar’s Alejandro Palmer topped the Class Two 800m in 1:58.19 while Alfario Cunningham of Wolmer’s won in Class Three in 2:04.67. Yoshane Bowen of Maggotty High captured Class One in 1:53.78.
Led by Gordon, Calabar sent out a strong message to rivals in the Class One 4x100m. They clocked an impressive 40.09 seconds for the win, ahead of Herbert Morrison Technical ( 40.50) and St George’s College (41.03).
Jamaica College (JC) won the Class Two and Three sprint relays. The Old Hope Road-based school captured Class Two in 41. 37, ahead of St George’s (42. 43) with Petersfield third in 42.62. JC clocked 42.84 for their win in Class Three. Manchester High (44.20) were second and Kingston College were third in 44.80.
In girls’ action, Abigail Campbell of Hydel led the way after posting 53.59 seconds to win the Class One 400m. Vere Technical’s Sherese Wint and Shevaughn Thomas both clocked 54.93 for second and third, respectively.
Wolmer’s Girls’ Abigail Wolfe was best in the Class One 100m. She won in 11.85, ahead of Vere’s Briana Wilson (11.93) and Hydel’s Jody Ann Daley, 11.99.
Hydel’s Natassia Fletcher topped the Class Two 100m in a personal best 11.97. Vere’s Posha Gaye Forrester was second in 11.98 and Wolmer’s Natriece East, third in 12.03.
Ferncourt High’s outstanding Rihanna Scott remained unbeaten this season after capturing the Class Three 100m in 12.11 ahead of Shayan Smith of St Mary High (12.29) and Shemeika McLean of Foga Road, who was third in a personal best 12.34.
In relay action, Hydel posted a nippy 48.98 to win Class Four 4x100m, ahead of Alpha (49.22) and Wolmer’s, 49.74. Alpha were fastest in Class Three in 47.87. Vere (48.20) and St Mary High, 48.26 were second and third respectively. Vere won Class Two in 46.21, and Hydel topped Class One with 46.09.
