In the recent 2025 Global Gender Gap Report published by the World Economic Forum, WEF, a notable improvement in the area of political empowerment in Jamaica was highlighted.
The report says the country moved up 10 places from 60 in 2024 to 50 in 2025. It also noted that women currently hold 37.5 per cent of cabinet positions and 40 per cent of seats in parliament.
This has resulted in Jamaica being ranked 20th in the global ranking for female representation at the ministerial level.
Dr Campbell acknowledged that the political journey is more difficult for female representatives.
